Our Commitment

Accessibility Statement

The ADU Exchange is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe every homeowner deserves equal access to the tools, professionals, and resources needed to build an ADU.

Our Commitment

The ADU Exchange LLC is committed to ensuring that our website and digital services are accessible to people with disabilities. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and hold ourselves to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard, which is the benchmark referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for web accessibility.

Our mission is to make ADUs Accessible and Affordable to ALL homeowners — and that commitment extends to making sure our website itself is accessible to all users, regardless of ability.

Conformance Standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines are developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and are the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility. They define how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Measures We Are Taking

We are committed to an ongoing effort to ensure our website meets or exceeds accessibility requirements. Our efforts include:

Conducting regular accessibility audits of our website against WCAG 2.1 AA criteria using both automated tools and manual testing.

Implementing proper semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, and keyboard navigation across all pages.

Ensuring all images have appropriate alternative text descriptions for screen reader users.

Providing sufficient color contrast ratios for all text content and maintaining visible focus indicators for keyboard users.

Associating all form fields with explicit labels and providing clear error messaging for form validation.

Respecting user preferences for reduced motion and ensuring content is usable when text is resized up to 200%.

Training our content editors to follow accessibility best practices when adding or updating website content.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, some content on our site may not yet be fully accessible. We are actively working to identify and resolve these issues. Areas we are currently improving include:

  • Some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We are working to remediate these documents.
  • Some third-party embedded content (such as Google Forms) may have accessibility limitations beyond our direct control.
  • We are continuing to audit and improve color contrast across all pages.
