We Exist to Make ADUs
Accessible and Affordable
to All Homeowners.
By simplifying a complex process and aligning homeowners with the right professionals, tools, and resources — at the right time. Serving all of New England.
Building an ADU shouldn't
require insider knowledge.
The ADU process is broken. Homeowners face a maze of zoning codes, building permits, financing options, contractor searches, legal requirements, and design decisions — with no single source of truth and no clear path forward.
The professionals who serve them — builders, lic. real estate professionals, attorneys, lenders, architects — operate in silos, rarely communicating across disciplines. A plumber doesn't know the zoning attorney. The lender doesn't know the builder. The homeowner doesn't know any of them.
The result? Projects stall. Money gets wasted. Trust erodes. And the housing shortage deepens — not because people don't want to build, but because the system makes it nearly impossible to navigate.
The ADU Exchange exists to fix this. We built the first complete ecosystem where every professional, every tool, and every resource a homeowner needs is organized, verified, and accessible — in one place, at the right time.
One Platform. Every Piece
of the ADU Puzzle.
The ADU Exchange isn't a directory. It's a living ecosystem where homeowners, builders, professionals, lenders, attorneys, and municipalities all connect — because an ADU project touches every one of them. When they work together, everyone wins.
How the Ecosystem Works
Eight Departments.
Every Discipline. One Roof.
Each department exists to solve a specific challenge in the ADU journey. Together, they form the most complete ADU resource platform in America.
Trust. Networking.
Professional Standards.
An ecosystem only works when every participant trusts every other participant. That trust isn't assumed — it's built through verification, accountability, transparent ethics, and the power of inter-trade relationships that compound over time.
If you touch ADUs,
this platform is for you.
Not a Directory.
The Infrastructure of an Entire Economy.
The ADU Exchange sits at the intersection of four massive markets: the housing shortage, the aging population, real estate investing, and multigenerational housing. Our platform provides the data, the standards, and the gathering place that transforms a fragmented market into a functioning economy.

Matthew Bissonnette
Matthew Bissonnette is a real estate professional, construction industry specialist, and entrepreneur focused on helping homeowners unlock the full potential of their property through Accessory Dwelling Units.
Matt began his real estate career in 2006 and has spent nearly two decades working with homeowners, buyers, and investors throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Over the years, he developed a reputation not only as a knowledgeable licensed real estate professional, but also as a leader within the industry.
Throughout his career, Matt recognized a common challenge in the housing market: while the industry often pushes toward larger homes and bigger developments, many families are searching for smarter, more efficient living solutions. He believed — long before it became mainstream — that smaller, well-designed homes could play a critical role in solving housing challenges while creating financial opportunities for homeowners.
That belief led him to focus on Accessory Dwelling Units and expand his experience into the construction side of the industry, working closely with builders, architects, and trades. Matt is also the author of The ADU Blueprint, a guide created to help homeowners understand the opportunities and process behind building an ADU.
He founded The ADU Exchange to create a trusted hub where homeowners and industry professionals can learn, connect, and navigate the ADU process with confidence — building the first complete ecosystem for the ADU economy in New England.
"Help homeowners create smarter housing, new income opportunities, and stronger family legacies — one backyard at a time."
— Matt Bissonnette, Founder
